There is a little retouching to the left flank and some discolouration to a couple of areas and craquelure to most of the surface

It would have required quite a skilful act of balance to walk on them and the child would have been from a well off family

Gentian is a typical bitter

The gilt lettering is still fairly bright but beautifully mellowed with age
