Late 19th century Windsor armchair, c.1870–1900. J Ayton Symington brass (stamped underside: Hall BM)A well proportioned example with a shaped elm seat, turned legs and arms, and a pierced central splat. Raised on a crinoline stretcher, adding both strength and a distinctive feature to the form. Good colour and surface throughout with honest wear from use. Solid and usable, with a comfortable sit and strong country house feel. A practical piece of everyday furniture that still holds its presence. Works well as a desk chair or occasional armchair.
